Sierra Vista development fees hit a snag
SIERRA VISTA — An ad hoc group of local business people has dissected the proposed impact fee schedule, which could likely result in additional postponement of City Council's action on the issue.
The group, led by First West Properties owner Frank Moro, presented a list of proposed exemptions, fine tuning and potential flaws in the methods used to arrive at the proposed fee amounts during a Tuesday work session.
Ways to soften the impact on affordable housing, multiple-family housing and west-end development were suggested to council at the session.
City Manager Chuck Potucek, who attended meetings of the ad hoc group in recent months as a consultant and city representative, recommended the proposed fee schedule be tabled at this week's regular council meeting for consideration instead on Feb. 23. At that time, whatever fee schedule is established would be made public record for 30 days before implementation.
After considering the input of the ad hoc group, Potucek said, “if there are significant changes in the language it probably would cause some significant delay.”
