Vote Yes on Proposition 400
Letters to the Editor
Being a second generation native of this area, I have seen a lot of changes. I've watched the J-6/Mescal area go from grasslands that were as high as your knees to what it is today. We can't stop growth, but we can help contain it so that it doesn't chop up and destroy everything in it's path.
That would be considered responsible planning. From everything that I've heard from the Voters for Rural Values, it sounds like a “special interest” group that is not truly interested in what is best for the entire community.
I strongly feel a planned community that will keep 50 percent of the land native, and paved roads that will cut down on dust pollution and erosion would be considered a good thing. Having a water plant that would monitor water usage would be considered a good thing. Having a sewer system that would keep the ground water safe and being able to reuse that water for whatever secondary need would be considered a good thing.
Contributing to our school system to the tune of $1,200 per rooftop would be a wonderful thing. As of yet, I've not heard anything that the Voters for Rural Values stands for that would benefit the entire community.
If they could match the benefits that are on the table, I might have to reconsider my vote. So, wanting to do the responsible thing and caring for my community, I'm voting “yes” on Prop 400.
