Candidate Statement/Bio

Craig Mount is a running for Mayor of Sierra Vista because it’s time to Improve Sierra Vista and move from the last ten years of economic decline.   As a current city council member, he has led efforts to revitalize the West End with the West End Partnership Program, updated City Fiscal Policy to allow budget flexibility, suspended Development Fees that crippled economic growth, fought against adding more regulations that increased local business costs, and passed rules that forced mayor and council to be more transparent with how they spend your tax dollars.  He has served as council liaison to the Upper San Pedro Partnership, the Municipal Planning Organization, and various other commissions.  He is the co-owner of Nemean Solutions, a certified service disabled, veteran owned small business, that conducts risk management for US Army Cyber Command.  He is the Vice President of Operations for ICE, Inc., a large Sierra Vista based company, with nearly 200 employees operating in 14 states and multiple countries, supporting Joint US Military Training and Exercise Support.   He has earned graduate degrees in both Business Management and Public Administration and is a certified Project Management Professional. Craig served in the US Army honorably for 8 years, enlisting after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.  He is veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a Knowlton Award Recipient, a US Army Intelligence School Dean’s List Graduate, a Combat Action Badge recipient, and member of the Order of the Combat Spur.  He’s served as an adjunct professor, teaching government, management, and ethics to hundreds of community members – mostly veterans and their family members seeking their degree.   He married Brittney Mount in April 2006 and moved to Sierra Vista a week later to start their life together.  They both are animal lovers, who volunteer regularly at the Sierra Vista Animal Shelter and have four rescue dogs.  In 2016, Craig was named the first ever Best of Sierra Vista “Person Making a Difference” by the Herald/Review readers.  He was recently named one of the “20 under 40 Young Professionals” in Sierra Vista by the Herald/Review.  His priority as your mayor is to make Sierra Vista ”The Most Business Friendly City in Arizona”.
